It is a secondary goal of the S.C. Guardian ad Litem Program to
increase public awareness of the issues related to child abuse and neglect,
and to demonstrate the value of volunteer service to the State's children and
the child welfare system. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that the
lives of all children should be measured by the highest quality standard.
With the support of the Division of Children's Services within the Office of
the Governor, the Program works with other State agencies to raise the
standard of care for maltreated children and to reintegrate them into society
as healthy and productive human beings. Consistent with this goal and policy, the Program offers various
presentations to groups and organizations which are geared toward imparting
public awareness about child abuse and neglect and recruiting individual and
corporate support of its efforts. Volunteers who feel comfortable addressing
the public may be offered the opportunity of serving on a Volunteer
Recruitment Team or Speakers Bureau. They may participate in or be available
for media coverage of the Program's work and efforts, as well as assist in
Public Awareness Campaigns. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer with our Speakers Bureau
or would like information about scheduling a formal presentation, orientation
session, or media coverage within your area, please contact the State Office
for more information at 1-800-277-0113 or 803-734-1695. |
