Mission
The mission of the Crime Victims' Ombudsman is to attempt to ensure that all crime victims are served justly, equitably, and fairly by South Carolina's criminal justice organizations.

Program Description
The Crime Victims' Ombudsman provides three main services: refers crime victims to appropriate agencies, provides liaison services, and reviews and attempts to resolve complaints against elements of the criminal and juvenile justice systems or victim assistance programs. The Crime Victims' Ombudsman is an impartial third party representative who attempts to resolve complaints.

A Message from the Crime Victims' Ombudsman
The welfare of crime victims is crucial to us and the Office of the Crime Victims' Ombudsman (CVO) strictly follows the mandate set forth in establishing this office in regard to serving crime victims. It is essential that we also maintain effective working relationships with agencies and organizations that provide direct victim services. These relationships are vital to us in resolving victims’ concerns.

As ombudsman, I look forward to continuing my duties to assist crime victims of this state. If I or my office can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions and/or concerns.

Sincerely,

M. Hope Blackley (signature)
