The Alliance is a cooperative relationship entered into by the South Carolina Commission on Women of the Office of the Governor (SCCW) and Columbia College, a private, non-profit women’s college in Columbia, South Carolina. The mission of the SCCW is to improve the status of all women in South Carolina by identifying problems and recommending and advancing policies and procedures. The SCCW entered into this agreement with Columbia College for the purpose of obtaining Columbia College’s assistance in carrying out the mission of SCCW.
Through this public-private partnership, both institutions will be better able to research the status of women in South Carolina, develop plans to improve problem areas, provide the funding for those plans, and disseminate the necessary information to the citizens who are the intended beneficiaries of those plans.
